Great Lakes Brass
Founded in 1998 by trumpeter Mark Flegg and trombonist Aaron LaVere, The Great Lakes Brass has established itself as one of the premiere brass ensembles in the state of Michigan. Modeled after such prominent groups as the American Brass Quintet and the Altantic Brass Quintet, the mission of the Great Lakes Brass involves presenting the very best of the brass quintet repertoire to audiences across the state. Featuring music ranging from Gabrielli to Debussy to Duke Ellington, they deliver audiences high-energy, exciting performances.
The Great Lakes Brass is available for recitals, weddings, church services, and educational programs for audiences of any age.
The members of the Great Lakes Brass hail from across Michigan and northern Ohio, from Farmington Hills to Kalamazoo to Midland to Toledo. United by a love for brass chamber music, they come together on a regular basis to rehearse and perform the most challenging and rewarding selections in the repertoire. In addition to their membership in the Great Lakes Brass, the musicians perform with many other area ensembles, including the Detroit Symphony, Michigan Opera Theater, Toledo Symphony, Kalamazoo Symphony, Flint Symphony, Midland Symphony, and others.
